Kate Spade “Hand in Hand” Bangle and Women for Women International
Last week, for work, I was doing some research into the history of the situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. I spent a portion of that time reading about the latest developments at Women for Women International, an organization I first heard of when I interviewed Lauren Bush about her Spring 2010 collection for Lauren Pierce Atelier.
For that collection, Lauren had worked with women survivors of war in the DRC, women who, as participants of the Women for Women job skills training programs, had actually dyed the fabrics for the dresses to earn an income for themselves.
Women for Women is a non-profit global organization that comes to the aid of women who have been the victims of conflict in countries such as the DRC, as well as Iraq, Kosovo, Rwanda, Nigeria and others. Read more
