Circulating: Unlock Your Closet With Cloth

I recently reviewed an app called Cloth for iPhone.AppStorm that makes it possible for you to save and share photos of your outfits. It’s a great tool to help you remember which of your looks you like best.

For every photo you take, you can assign it to a category, such as Work, Vacation, Evening, Event or Everyday. This means all your work clothes can be found in one (virtual) place, all your vacation clothes in another, and so on. Just think how much easier this could make the task of packing for your next trip. Read moreRead more

StyleMint Magnolia T

It finally happened — I broke down, caved in to peer pressure, and jumped on the StyleMint bandwagon. (I don’t really mean the peer pressure part. Who am I kidding — it was all me.)

I used one of the “new members only” promo codes last month to buy the Magnolia T. (It’s shown at left in blue, although I bought the black version. Because 90 percent of the time I’m wearing either black or red. See photo at right.)

The packaging was a little unexpected … My tee (which StyleMint likes to write as “T”) arrived plainly wrapped in brown grocery-bag-like paper — a much more eco-friendly alternative to the Tiffany & Co.-colored JewelMint boxes and their trappings.

And the shirt? Perfection. Read moreRead more

Handmade Eco-Friendly Ballet Flats

Keyhole Flat by HydraHeart, $50

Heels are fun, but on any given day I’d rather be wearing a pair of cute and comfortable flats. Always in search of the perfect pair, I recently discovered two Etsy vendors who design and sell handcrafted, vegan, eco-friendly ballet flats.

Canadian Etsy user The Generation says, “Motherhood and the fondest love to animals and nature has led me to the creation of these vegan shoes.” And California-based Etsy user Hydra Heart, aka Molly Puzo, whose flats were featured in Oprah’s magazine O, says her products  “are vegan and earth-friendly, and materials are organically derived from renewable sources. ”

Sound too good to be true? Just wait until you see how cute these shoes are … Read moreRead more

Sweater Dresses

"Classic fisherman's sweater by Prada, Vogue, September 2010"

The temps have still been getting up to the 90s in Phoenix, but October is the month we should (finally) start to feel it cool down.

And you know what that means: Soon it will be sweater weather! (For at least a few weeks, anyway, right?) And the only thing better than pulling on a warm, soft sweater to lounge around in is pulling on a warm, soft sweater to comfortably wear out as a dress.

Here are some sweater dresses that somehow blend every look — modern, vintage, classic, trendy — and will never go out of style …

suzuki takayuki x UNIQLO Dress

While in Hong Kong in March, my sister and I were shopping one day in a shopping mall the size of a small city. At some point, we wandered into a UNIQLO store, where I ended up finding this very comfortable and cute dress.

It was made by Japanese designer Takayuki Suzuki — who named his brand suzuki takayuki — for the UNIQLO Designers Invitation Project.

Born in Aichi Prefecture in 1975, Suzuki established his brand in 2002 and has been participating in Tokyo Collection Week (that’s Japan’s Fashion Week) since ’07. His work is often characterized by subdued colors, elegant simplicity and the use of organic cotton.

This particular dress, which was relatively inexpensive, is super-soft, made with modal, cotton and silk. And I like the layered, slightly uneven ruffled hem — it prevents the shapes and lines from looking a little too “organized.” Read moreRead more

EmersonMade.

I recently stumbled across EmersonMade., an apparel and accessories line created and managed by Emerson, along with her partner and husband, Ryan.

Saying she finds inspiration in books, memories, travels and old films, Emerson makes clothes that are kind of classic, preppy, retro, romantic, and most of all, fun.

My of-the-moment favorite is the super mod black dress pictured at left, but read on for a few more snapshots of what else EmersonMade. is up to. Read moreRead more

Mott 50 Sun Protective Fashion

In Arizona, sun protection is naturally a hot topic. And who doesn’t love the idea of sun protective clothing, which is supposed to act as a shield for your skin, without the hassle of slathering on sunscreen.

I recently read about Mott 50 (I think it was a Daily Candy email), a clothing company that makes cute casualwear, with each garment said to offer a UPF (ultraviolet protective factor) of 50. Read moreRead more

Sseko Sandals

Have you heard of Sseko? I’m a fan.

Pronounced “say-ko,” the company was founded by Liz Bohannon after she took a post-college trip to Uganda in 2008. While she was there, she met some incredible young women who were struggling to finance their educations.

After having a “eureka!” moment and spending some weeks perfecting her concept, Liz found a way to provide these women with the opportunity they had needed and been hoping for. The solution? A sandal. Read moreRead more

The {intimacy} Boutique Experience

Earlier this month I experienced a fitting at {intimacy} bra boutique’s newest location inside Scottsdale Fashion Square.

The place is impressive. Not only does the company pack a surprising amount of merchandise into the showroom area (more than 15,000 bras available in 90+ different sizes, plus swimwear and sleepwear), but the majority of the total 2,200 square feet are actually allocated for the spacious dressing rooms. Sue Wong Spring 2011

It’s official: Sue Wong’s Spring 2011 collection is my new fashion obsession.

For this collection, the Chinese designer created dresses that are throwbacks to Old Hollywood and the flapper dress era, with lots and lots of the fine detailing we’ve come to expect and love, elegant hues, and classic, feminine cuts that already look vintage. Read moreRead more

William Rast for Target

Not to cause a panic, but … the William Rast for Target collection hits stores and Target.com tomorrow. That’s right, tomorrow.

So if you were planning on doing any Christmas shopping, you might as well tack Target on to the end of your list and do a little browsing for yourself.

Although, I wouldn’t put it off too late in the day. These items are going to fly off the shelves, thanks in part to the brand’s trendy designs and also because, well, pretty much anything Justin Timberlake has a hand in usually sells out like this. Snap.

Plus, the William Rast capsule collection will only be available from Dec. 19, 2010, through Jan. 22, 2011. That is, if everything isn’t already sold out well before then. Read moreRead more
