Simply Wood Rings
I recently discovered Simply Wood Rings, which are created from salvaged wood and other environmentally friendly sources. The rings are made in a studio in Chicago according to a process which maintains the natural structure of the wood, drawing strength from its grain, rather than cutting against it as you see with many other wooden rings. Kate Spade Carousel Watch
Have you seen the new Kate Spade watch collection? I’m in love with the bright pink Carousel bangle watch with “Tickled Pink” etched on the inside. How fun is that? Read more
Circulating: RUBEDO by Tiffany & Co.
This year Tiffany & Co. celebrates its 175th anniversary, and in anticipation of the milestone, it created a rosy new metal, called rubedo, designed to have the appeal of gold, silver and copper, all rolled into one. I was granted a preview of the new metal — and the Tiffany 1837 designs which will feature it — for my feature in the March/April issue of Jetset Magazine. Read more

If you’re looking for a little retail therapy for yourself, or if you’re in search of a gift for a jewelry-loving lady, I’d recommend JewelMint, a refreshingly affordable collaboration between actress Kate Bosworth and stylist Cher Coulter.

Handmade Eco-Friendly Ballet Flats
Heels are fun, but on any given day I’d rather be wearing a pair of cute and comfortable flats. Always in search of the perfect pair, I recently discovered two Etsy vendors who design and sell handcrafted, vegan, eco-friendly ballet flats.
Canadian Etsy user The Generation says, “Motherhood and the fondest love to animals and nature has led me to the creation of these vegan shoes.” And California-based Etsy user Hydra Heart, aka Molly Puzo, whose flats were featured in Oprah’s magazine O, says her products “are vegan and earth-friendly, and materials are organically derived from renewable sources. ”
Sound too good to be true? Just wait until you see how cute these shoes are … Read more
Circulating: As Good As Gold
Is your jewelry worth its weight in gold? I have an article in the September/October 2011 issue of Jetset Magazine called “As Good As Gold,” featuring pieces of gold jewelry that are worth their weight, plus a whole lot more, because they were made using recycled gold and responsibly harvested gemstones.
Spotlighted designers include: Amber Marie Bently, alkemie, Dawes Design and Ruff&Cut. Read more
Vintage Dior Button Rings
My friend Christine gave me this gorgeous ring as a present. It’s made from a vintage Dior button, and it came from the super-cute Vintage by Misty boutique, which I’ve written about before.
The ring is a fun way to add a little vintage something-something to any outfit — I’ve worn it with jeans and a feminine top, as well as with cocktail dresses.
And with the button’s face polished so that it’s extra shiny, plus the uniquely wrapped silver wire that forms the actual ring part (additional photo after the jump), the piece garners a lot of attention. People take a few moments to try to make out the letters before they eventually smile and say, “Oh, Dior!” And then when I tell them it’s a button, well that just makes it all the more fun. Read more
Brushed Gold Inverted Bangle by Bauble Bar
I recently discovered Bauble Bar, an online jewelry retailer with a lot of variety and very little sticker shock.
Take a look at this simple and elegant inverted bangle by the Bauble Bar. I saw a photo of Malin Akerman wearing something like it at a Tommy Hilfiger event and thought, “Hm, I wonder where I can find a cheaper version of that …” Because of course I expected it to cost something ridiculous, like $4,725.39.
As it turns out, this bangle from the Bauble Bar is the exact one Malin is wearing in the photo. And guess what — it’s only $22. Read more
Kate Spade Book Clutches
Have you seen Kate Spade’s book clutches? Fashion and literature collide in these fun accessories, for which the brand has re-imagined the covers of such beloved classics as Pride & Prejudice, Romeo and Juliet, Great Expectations, Emma, The Importance of Being Earnest and others.
Each clutch comes with some sparkly 14-karat gold-plated hardware, plenty of pockets (for very thin things), and of course, lots of quirky charm. Read more
EmersonMade.
I recently stumbled across EmersonMade., an apparel and accessories line created and managed by Emerson, along with her partner and husband, Ryan.
Saying she finds inspiration in books, memories, travels and old films, Emerson makes clothes that are kind of classic, preppy, retro, romantic, and most of all, fun.
My of-the-moment favorite is the super mod black dress pictured at left, but read on for a few more snapshots of what else EmersonMade. is up to. Read more

Sseko Sandals
Have you heard of Sseko? I’m a fan.
Pronounced “say-ko,” the company was founded by Liz Bohannon after she took a post-college trip to Uganda in 2008. While she was there, she met some incredible young women who were struggling to finance their educations.
After having a “eureka!” moment and spending some weeks perfecting her concept, Liz found a way to provide these women with the opportunity they had needed and been hoping for. The solution? A sandal. Read more
Littlefly Literary Jewels by Jeremy May
Being a bibliophile, I’m kind of charmed by these jewelry pieces, which are made from the pages of books.
Jeremy May of Littlefly makes rings, necklaces, pendants, bracelets and earrings via a unique process in which hundreds of book pages are laminated together and then finished with a high gloss. Read more
Worth Lusting After: Anais Bag at Anthropologie
If I bought even one-eighth of all the things I’ve seen and fell in love with at Anthropologie, I would have been living on the streets long ago.
To be filed in my mental folder labeled “Object Designated Worth Lusting After” would be the subject at left (to be clear: the bag, not the bird, although the thing does look friendly, doesn’t it?). Meet the Anais Bag. Read more
